Reboot Message Screen
Press any key to return to the DOS prompt. Remove Disk 2 from the floppy drive and
reboot your computer by either pressing CTRL-ALT-DEL or turning the power off and then
back on again. Return both Campaign Craftware disks to the protective plastic disk page.
You are now ready to run Campaign Craftware!
Starting Craftware for the First Time
Lately we have been shipping two versions of Craftware. CRAFT.EXE and CRAFTX.EXE
provide the same functionality, but CRAFTX uses extended memory and is usually faster. You
must have a 386 or higher computer with 4MB of memory to run CRAFTX. If you can run
CRAFTX, you should. Eventually, when everyone has more powerful computers, we may ship
only CRAFTX.
Change directory to the drive and directory you indicated in
the Installation Directory Choice Screen (in Section 2.1), type CRAFT (or CRAFTX) at the
DOS prompt and then press ENTER to start Campaign Craftware.
Program Registration
You must now enter your user registration information. Press any key when the
following screen displays:

No Registration Message Screen
The following data entry screen is displayed:

Registered User Information Data Entry Screen
The Campaign Craftware Registration Information Sheet that accompanies the disks
contains the registered user name, serial number and activation key. Enter that
information now, in the appropriate data entry fields. You will need to enter this
information only once.
If you mistype this information the program will halt. Restart it by typing CRAFT at
the DOS prompt, and try entering the information again.
When you have entered the registered user information, press F10 to continue.
Select committee type from the following menu:

Committee Type Menu
If you are registering a candidate controlled committee, the following is presented
(note that the serial number and activation key are blanked out for security purposes):

Candidate Name Data Entry Screen
Use the SPACEBAR to toggle through the Title choices (Mr., Ms., etc.) until the
correct title appears and then press ENTER to select it. Type the candidate's first and
last name in the fields provided, then press F10 to continue.
NOTE: The above candidate information screen will not be displayed if your
committee is not a candidate controlled committee.
Upon completion of program registration, the following message displays:

Technical Support Message
Be sure to put your Registration Information Sheet where you can easily retrieve
it, since you will need the serial number when requesting technical support.
Press the F10 key to continue to the committee setup procedure.
First Time Committee Setup
After you have completed the Program Registration procedure described in Section
2.3, the Campaign Craftware sign-on screen displays:

Campaign Craftware Sign-on Screen
This same screen will appear each time you start up Campaign Craftware in the
future. Press any key to proceed to the next screen, or wait a few seconds and it will
proceed automatically.
The next screen is a message informing you that no data files were found, and asking
whether to create them at this time:

Data File Creation Message Screen
Answer Yes to continue setting up your committee. Campaign Craftware then creates
your committee's data files and displays a prompt asking if you wish to enter the
committee information at this time:

Committee Information Message Screen
Be prepared to enter general committee information, primary and general election
dates, and contribution limits. Federal election contribution limits are already included
in Craftware.
NOTE: If there is no primary election in your race, set the primary election
date to a date prior to the formation of the committee.
Again, answer Yes to continue.
A committee data entry screen displays, with data fields appropriate to your type of
committee. Data entry screens for all committee types are similar, but not identical. A
few typical screens are shown below. If you want to see representations of the actual data
entry screens that will be displayed, refer to the addendum specific to your election
jurisdiction.
It is very important that you enter all of the candidate/officeholder and committee
information accurately, since it will be used to prepare the disclosure statements.
- Candidate Controlled Committee
The following example is for a California candidate controlled committee.
Note: If your committee is not a candidate controlled committee, this screen
will not be displayed; skip to the next section: "Entering Basic Committee
Information".
The candidate/officeholder information data entry screen displays:

Candidate/Officeholder Information Data Entry Screen
The single-user version of the program will already have the candidate or
officeholder's name filled in from the earlier entry in the candidate name data entry
screen. Users of the Pro version must enter the candidate or officeholder⦣128;â¢s name
at this time. Fill in the candidate or officeholder's Social Security number, address and
phone number.
- Entering Basic Committee Information
Press CTRL-W and a committee information data entry screen similar to the one shown
below will be displayed:

Committee Information Data Entry Screen
The upper part of this screen defines the election and the candidate controlled
committee. Enter the dates of the primary and general elections (if any) and the name of
the controlled committee. Then fill in the bottom part of the screen with the requested
treasurer information. Committee information data entry screens for other committee types
will require slightly different information, as appropriate.
NOTE: If there is no primary election in your race, set the primary election
date to a date prior to the formation of the committee.
- Setting Up Contribution Limit Parameters
Campaign Craftware allows you to customize the contribution limitations functions
to match the rules in effect for your election. Federal contribution limits are already
included in Craftware, and you may use the F2 function to view them.
Press F2 to add contribution limit information and a screen similar to the following is
displayed:

Committee Limits Data Entry Screen
If contribution limits apply, type "Y" for Yes, then indicate which
contributor types are allowed to contribute to candidates for this election. Enter the
limits that apply to each allowed contributor type.
NOTE: Check with your local filing officer for limitations applying to your
election.
Some jurisdictions, the City of Los Angeles for example, have expenditure limits and/or
matching funds programs. Refer to the addendum specific to your election jurisdiction, or
contact Statecraft to see if your jurisdiction⦣128;â¢s special programs are supported
by Campaign Craftware. If so, fill in the bottom part of the Committee Limits data entry
screen with the appropriate parameters.
Press CTRL-W to proceed with committee setup.
- Entering Bank Information
Press F3 to enter bank information, and the following is displayed:

Bank Information Data Entry Screen
Enter the requested bank and committee checking account information, then press
CTRL-W to save the information.
This information appears on various administrative reports and
may appear on disclosure reports if bank charges reach $100 or more in a reporting period.
The account number does not appear on disclosure reports.
This completes the Committee Setup portion of Getting Started. Press CTRL-W to proceed,
and turn to Section 2.5: System Configuration.
System Configuration

System Configuration Menu
Use the system configuration menu to specify the printer type, mailmerge and FAX
defaults. You must choose a default printer at this time, but if you do not plan to use
the mailmerge and FAX functions right away, you may postpone their setups.
Note: If your committee has previous balances for cash on hand, accrued
expenses, or any outstanding loans received or loans made, you must follow the
steps outlined in Section 2.6: Carryover Committee Data before generating any disclosure
reports. IT IS NECESSARY TO ENTER THIS DATA TO CHECK FOR CONTRIBUTION LIMITATIONS AND TO
PRODUCE ACCURATE SUMMARY PAGES DATA AND CUMULATIVE CONTRIBUTIONS DISCLOSURE.
You must specify mailmerge defaults before using the mailmerge facilities.
You may use the FAX facilities without setting up defaults by specifying the
information each time you use the function. You⦣128;â¢ll save time every time you use
the FAX function if you take a moment to set the defaults.
- Printer Selection
Selecting "Printer Selection" from the system configuration menu displays
the current default printer type:

Printer Information Display
Pressing the ENTER key then displays the scrollable list of supported printers:

Scrollable List of Supported Printers

In the field Output directory, enter the default drive letter and directory name to
which you wish to have future mailmerge files sent, for example C:\WORD6\DOCS. The
directory you designate must already exist on your hard drive. Type in a default filename
for the secondary mailmerge file in the "Output filename" field. Use the
SPACEBAR to toggle through the Word Processor Format options. Select the appropriate
symbol for your word processor type.
- FAX Setup
NOTE: If you do not have a FAX card installed in your computer, you will skip this
step.
To set up the default FAX directory, select "FAX Setup" from the system
configuration menu. The following data entry screen displays:

FAX Information Data Entry Screen
In the FAX directory field, enter the drive letter and name of an existing
directory to which Campaign Craftware is to direct FAX output, for example C:\FAX\OUTBOX.
- Edit Registration Data
You will select this option to enter a new registration number and activation key
in the event of program updates, enhancements or license renewals.
See Section 2.3 for details on entering Campaign Craftware registration data.
- Run GSCONFIG
Use this option only with assistance from Statecraft, Inc. technical support. The
technical support staff uses this option in resolving any printing problems.
- Specify Check Type
Select this option to specify the format of checks to be printed by Campaign
Craftware⦣128;â¢s optional check printing function.

Specify Check Type Screen
Choose Top Check Style 1 or Style 2 if your preprinted checks have the check
voucher on the top third of the page and notes spaces on the bottom two thirds. Style 1
shows the amount of the check both in Arabic numerals and written out. Style 2 shows the
amount of the check only in Arabic numerals.
Choose Middle Check if your preprinted checks have the check voucher on the middle
third of the page and notes spaces on the top and bottom thirds. The amount of the check
is shown in Arabic numerals only (the amount is not written out).
Carryover Committee Data
Once you have completed the preceding setup steps, Campaign Craftware's Main Menu
will appear. Each of the menu items has its own chapter that details features, input
screens and reports.
